The funk of a big band, the soul of a frontman.
A virtuoso trumpeter and a world-class arranger and composer, Philip Lassiter has built a rare pedigree. Following his 2010 audition, he became the horn arranger and section leader for Prince and the New Power Generation, before going on to work with Kirk Franklin, Ariana Grande, Timbaland, Roberta Flack and many other major names.
Shaped by Prince's relentless work ethic and appetite for experimentation, Lassiter now stands out in his own right as a frontman and songwriter. Based in the Netherlands, he has reconnected there with saxophonist Candy Dulfer, another collaborator of the Minneapolis master, with whom he co-wrote the tribute « Purple ».
On stage, he leads an ensemble that can range from six to twenty-three musicians, driven by blazing horn lines, a soulful voice and generous, full-bodied funk. His albums « Live in Love » (2021) and « Party Crashers » (2018), along with the « Raw in Amsterdam » project, capture all of that collective energy.
