01Biography

The stage in his veins.

Funk and blues fused together, retro-futuristic and brass-soaked.

Boney Fields belongs to that generation of African-American artists born to command the stage. A devotee of the funky, urban sound he helped shape on the streets of Chicago, he is the heir to a long tradition - one constantly reinvented, open to outside influences yet faithful to its roots. Funk and blues, those two sides of one and the same Great Black Music, he fuses with fervor and craft.

His career has taken him to stages around the world, alongside legendary partners in crime: Lucky Peterson, Luther Allison, James Cotton, Buddy Guy, Liz McComb, as well as George Clinton, Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley and Bootsy Collins. Far from the glitz of show business, it was on stage that he learned his trade, deepened his art and forged a style all his own.

That style is a retro-futuristic blend of soul and brass-soaked blues-funk, an aesthetic he brings to life on record and on stage alike. Entertaining an audience isn't just his calling - it's his art: wherever they play, Boney Fields & his Band leave behind a trail of fire, electric and pure joy.
